Our country, the Philippines, is very rich in Filipino culture and heritage that makes us, Filipinos, very unique in our traditions and ways of living in spite of the fact that some of these cultures are the influence of the countries that once occupied and possessed our country.
We have to admit that we, Filipinos, are very fond of eating. We just simply love to eat! As a matter of fact, we can see food stalls, carinderia, and turo-turo in almost every corner of our country, and as part of our culture, we often scout for a place that not only offers quality, delectable, and affordable value meals that make our stomach full, but also wisely meet our budget.
Even the early morning chant “Taho! Taho!” plays a large role in the Filipino Culture. A hearty breakfast wouldn’t be complete without a “Taho” or Soy Bean Curd in Syrup around. And how about “exotic” Philippine street foods like kwek-kwek, one-day-old, adidas, helmet, isaw, betamax, and the like? Mmmm… Scrumptiously lip smacking, right? These “exotic dishes” are one of the most favorite snacks or “pulutan” of the Filipino people during drinking sessions.
By the way, these so-called drinking sessions have also become a part of the Filipino culture. Oftentimes, we see a group of people who set up a table on the streets to carry out their drinking sessions with their drinking buddies, singing their hearts out (mostly accompanied by videoke machines). This just shows that Filipinos love singing too! Every fiesta includes an amateur singing contest in their program and most of the households in our country own a Magic Sing, DVD-oke, Karaoke or even that big Videoke Machine which proves that singing is also a portion of the vast Filipino culture.
